Invisible Safety for Luxury Surfaces

Slip-and-fall accidents are one of the most common liabilities in luxury hospitality. Polished marble, granite, porcelain stoneware and natural stone floors deliver stunning aesthetics but can become dangerously slippery when wet—especially in lobbies, pool surrounds, bathrooms, spa areas, restaurant entrances and outdoor terraces.

GFS anti-slip treatment works by creating a controlled micro-texture on the surface of the stone or tile. The treatment chemically etches microscopic channels into the top layer of the material, increasing the coefficient of friction (COF) by 30–60% depending on the substrate. The result is a surface that meets or exceeds the requirements of DIN 51130 (ramp test, R9–R13 classification), BS 7976 (pendulum test, 36+ PTV) and ANSI A326.3 (DCOF ≥ 0.42).

Unlike adhesive anti-slip strips or coatings that alter the look of a floor, our chemical treatment is completely invisible. The surface retains its original colour, veining, gloss level and texture. Guests and staff will feel the improved grip underfoot, but will not see any change to the floor.

The treatment is applied in a single session, typically overnight to avoid disrupting hotel operations. The floor is cleaned, treated with our proprietary acid-based solution (calibrated to the specific stone type), neutralized, rinsed and dried. The entire process takes 4–8 hours for a standard lobby area. No downtime is required—the floor can be walked on immediately after treatment.

Longevity depends on foot traffic, but in a typical luxury hotel environment the treatment lasts 3–5 years before a refresh is needed. Maintenance is straightforward: standard neutral pH floor cleaners are recommended, and no special products are required.
